Mathematics Instruction in Lafayette School District
Mathematics Instruction in Lafayette School District
Lafayette School District is committed to a strong, coherent mathematics program that emphasizes conceptual understanding, problem solving, reasoning, and meaningful application of skills. Instruction across TK–8 is aligned to California’s Mathematics Framework and is designed to support deep understanding, flexibility with numbers, and confidence in mathematical thinking.
Mathematics Instruction
Mathematics instruction in Lafayette classrooms focuses on making sense of mathematics through multiple strategies and representations. Students develop strong number sense while engaging with grade-level content in ways that are both challenging and accessible. Instruction emphasizes reasoning, application, and mathematical confidence over time.
Mathematics Pilot and Program Development
The district is engaged in a mathematics pilot to thoughtfully review instructional materials aligned to the California Mathematics Framework. This work supports informed decision-making and allows educators to examine how instructional materials promote student understanding, access, and engagement across grade levels.
Stanley Middle School Mathematics
Mathematics pathways at Stanley Middle School build on the strong foundation developed in elementary school and continue to emphasize reasoning, problem solving, and conceptual understanding.
