The Lafayette School District is committed to providing equal access to a high-quality education for all students by creating a climate of safety, belonging, and inclusion for each student to learn and thrive. The Bias Incident Reporting System (BIRS) is part of this ongoing commitment. This system will provide consistent opportunities for students and families to share school and community experiences, ensure accountability, and collect data for future areas of focus. BIRS submissions will be reviewed by site and District wellness teams.
In 2020, the LafSD Governing Board adopted a board policy and associated administrative regulation detailing the District's commitment to racial equity. There are six specific areas of focus, including school climate and culture, curriculum and instruction/student engagement, staff capacity, community and relationships, systems, policies and administration, and accountability.
